Art has the power to change lives! Committed to this belief, IPRAC has dedicated an entire wing of its museum to arts education. IPRAC offers hands-on arts and crafts workshops — classes include painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking and photography. Students of all ages and backgrounds participate in workshops year-round, many by our exhibiting artists themselves.

IPRAC’s arts education programming help students understand the powerful influence of art and its ability to create and reflect cultures. In addition to learning creative skills, students will learn first-hand about the experiences of their grandparents and great-grandparents who came from the island of Puerto Rico to establish a new life in Chicago and other major cities across they United States.

Via our arts education programming, IPRAC has been able to serve Chicago Public School students from around the city whose arts programming is lacking or non-existent. This year IPRAC has been able to partner with six area schools.
